Simplicity is a Lodge, consisting of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. 1 bedroom with a queensize bed and en suite bathroom, a second bedroom with 2 single beds, beautifully made from sneeze wood and the third bedroom with 2 single beds and a bunk bed, also made from sneeze wood which works for a couple, or for the children. The Lodge also consists of a large living area and kitchen which is very well equipped. A lovely fire place keeps the room very warm on the occasions when the evenings become chilly.
The beautiful stone boma is a wonderful place for a braai/barbeque in the evenings.
Nyala Valley is very popular with people who like to walk/hike as there are no dangerous animals and you are able to get up really close to nature – don’t leave your binoculars behind as it is well know for the variety and abundance of bird life. (See the comments from well known birders, Anne Williams and Tim Cockroft in the birding section)
Under the giant Wild Fig is a private secluded spot with a wooden swing and hammock. Take yourself there with a pillow and a good book and you can enjoy true relaxation and an opportunity to recharge your batteries away from the stress of modern-day life.
At night, sit around a big fire in the open boma with family or friends and enjoy conversations without modern technology i.e. cellphones to interrupt you and destroy the mood. The quiet of the night allows you to hear the eerie jackal call or the mournful call of an owl. When the coals are good and ready to braai/barbeque you have the smell of cooking on an open fire to tickle you taste buds after the activities of the day.
N.B. Solar lighting so no TV. Paraffin lanterns supplied.
From the moment you enter the gates of Nyala Valley and start descending into the valley below, a sense of peace and tranquillity settles over you. Nyala Valley is unique in that once you are ensconced at either Simplicity Lodge or Lily Pad hikers’ acommodation, you hear nothing but the sounds of nature around you. At night there is not a light to be seen except your own, and the night sky lit up by a thousand stars.
