Canoeing with Shipwreck Hiking Trails

This is a new development on Nyala Vally, it is run by Mr. Dave Marais of Shipwreck Hiking Trails and is the activity on day 4 and day 5 of his 6 day hiking trail. You are able to book the canoe trail only, without doing the full 6 day  hike, if you should wish to do so.

Dave meets you at the mouth of the West Kleinemond river with his sturdy 2-man canoes. The canoe paddle is 8 km along a pristine river, rich in bird life, with the beautiful riverine flora reflected into the water. After a short walk onto Nyala Valley, the canoeists arrive at “The Lily Pad” to spend the night and canoe back the next morning. A wonderful adventure!

Slack packing is available.

From the moment you enter the gates of Nyala Valley and start descending into the valley below, a sense of peace and tranquillity settles over you. Nyala Valley is unique in that once you are ensconced at either Simplicity Lodge or Lily Pad hikers’ acommodation, you hear nothing but the sounds of nature around you. At night there is not a light to be seen except your own, and the night sky lit up by a thousand stars.

Nyala Valley is very popular with people who like to walk/hike as there are no dangerous animals and you are able to get up really close to nature - don’t leave your binoculars behind as it is well known for the variety and abundance of bird life.
